PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATION AND
ASSOCIATIONS
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Rosalie Seymour qualified as a Speech and Language
Therapist and Audiologist in 1971 at the University of Pretoria,
South Africa and was appointed to the Johannesburg School Clinic.

In 1972 she accepted an invitation to establish the newly-built
Tygerberg Hospital’s Speech Therapy Section, in Cape Town, South
Africa. On completion of this, she took up a post at the first
school for
Autistic Children
in Cape Town..

Experienced as a Speech Therapist at Centers for children with
cerebral palsy, epilepsy, learning disabilities and dyslexia.
She returned to the Vera School for children with
Autism, Cape Town, in 1989.

In 1992 she attended the Geneva Centre conference in Toronto
featuring various new therapy interventions for
autism, including
Auditory Integration Training.

In 1995 Rosalie was further certificated by
Dr. Guy Berard as a practitioner trainer. She wrote the
training manual used in South Africa between 1995 and 2004. It was
in this period that she engaged the services of an electronics
engineer to build a local device to perform
Berard AIT,
the Earducator.

Together with Carin Smit, M.Ed.
she directed the National Institute for the Enhancement of
Learning Potential in Gauteng, South Africa. This Institute
provided training, assessment and treatments in a whole-person
approach to developmental difficulties, serving parents and
their children, as well as adults.

Continuing in the commitment to make
Berard AIT
available to as many people as possible, she has travelled to
Lusaka, Zurich and Ireland.

In 2001 she was contracted by Dóchas, Hope for People
with Autism, in Limerick, Ireland, to work for a year
to extend their information center, and to do research into the
effectiveness of AIT in a population of children with
autism.

Rosalie now lives in Ireland and continues to develop a
whole-person approach to Autism titled "Neuro-Cognitive
Mobilisation".

Besides being employed as a Speech and Language Therapist, she has
presented courses for the Teacher Centres of Limerick, Cork and
Waterford on the management of Challenging Behaviours.

Rosalie
Seymour has compiled a
CD-assisted phonics training programme for home use, titled
"Sounds Right", and is publishing a directory of
autism
treatments, titled "Autism – Options Galore – 2006".
She continues to write and present on
autism, auditory processing, and challenging behaviors.
