Music Approved for Auditory Integration Training (Berard AIT)

  • The music approved for use with Auditory Integration Training should cover a wide range of frequencies.

  • Most contemporary music covers only a narrow range of frequencies.

  • Many contain only a narrow range of frequencies, often between 750 Hz and 3000 Hz.

  • It is also important that the music source has a good tempo or beat.

  • In general, music considered appropriate for Auditory Integration Training includes: pop, rock 'n roll, New Age, reggae, and jazz;

  • Most classical music is not appropriate for Auditory Integration Training.

  • The need for varied frequency and a fast tempo come from Dr. Guy Berard's clinical experience.

  • There are no scientific studies currently to support the importance of these recommendations.

The following list of compact discs have been analyzed fully and fulfill the criteria described above. These compact discs were selected using a Hewlett-Packard Spectrum Analyzer and a Sony 8X Oversampling CD Player.

  • Selections were made primarily for spectral content.
  • The selections were made without regard to personal preference or tastes in music.
  • Compact discs not on the list should be analyzed formally prior to their use for Auditory Integration Training.
